Scarlett Johansson has given birth to her first child, a girl named Rose.

On Thursday, Marcel Pariseau, a spokesman for the mother, 29, and her fiancé, Romain Dauriac, told The Associated Press that both Johansson and daughter are doing well.

He went on to add that the couple are asking for privacy and are supporters of the No Kids Policy, where celebrities keep their children out of the public eye.

The actress and Dauriac got engaged back in August 2013 and were recently reported to be thinking about tying the knot soon. Dauriac is a French journalist who was formerly the editor of urban art magazine Clark.

This will be the Lucy star's second time down the aisle as she previously got hitched to actor Ryan Reynolds for three years. The marriage ended in 2011.

Even though Johansson doesn't have a Twitter account herself, fans took to the social networking website to congratulate the couple on the birth, and praise them for choosing a 'normal' name:

Aww Scarlett Johanssen had her baby today! Happy birthday fellow september 4 birthday girl!

Scarlett Johanssen named her kid a totally normal, lovely name. I like her more and more every time I read something about her.

Nothing has been said about how the couple picked their daughter's name, but it would appear that she has been named after a shade of red, just like her mother.
