Pope Francis gave a teenage boy suffering from Downs syndrome an idea of what it was like in the popemobile on Wednesday (June 19) by asking him to get in and try the front seat.

Alberto di Tullio had been in the crowd attending the general audience with his father. When he was introduced to the pontiff after the ceremony, Pope Francis noticed him looking at the popemobile and asked if he would like to jump up and have a look.

The smiling 17 year-old took the front seat and was swung round by the pontiff who happily let him spend some time onboard.

Di Tullio was wearing an Argentinian national soccer team shirt, which may partly explain the lucky break. Pope Francis is originally from Argentina.
