Sevilla hold the edge against Shakhtar Donetsk after a 2-2 draw in Lviv last week Reuters

Sevilla are in the box seat to reach a third straight European final as they prepare to host Shakhtar Donetsk at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in the Europa League semi-final second leg on 5 May.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 8.05pm BST. The game will be broadcast live on BT Sport 2.

Overview

A much-changed Sevilla team fell to a 1-0 defeat against Espanyol at Cornella-El Prat on 1 May to leave the Andalusians in seventh place on the La Liga table. Unai Emery's side have a slender advantage in the semi-final after Kevin Gameiro's late penalty earned them a 2-2 draw at Shakhtar Donetsk in last week's first leg in Lviv.

Defender Timothee Kolodziejczak is a doubt after suffering a blow to the head in the Espanyol match. Jose Antonio Reyes and Benoit Tremoulinas are both definitely out through injury.

Shakhtar Donetsk are unbeaten in seven matches away from home in the Europa League this season, but have only won two of their 10 previous encounters against Spanish clubs. The Ukrainians are bidding to reach their first European final since winning the farewell edition of the Uefa Cup in 2009.

The visitors are without Brazilian defender Marcio Azevedo, who is out with a knee injury.

What managers say

Unai Emery: "Some regular players weren't on the pitch, but I had full confidence in the team I played. At times we were in control, but we lacked a little going forward and Espanyol made us pay for our mistakes. Their goal conditioned the match. They were interested in playing with many stoppages and we struggled to give continuity to the game and acquire the feeling of being close to a draw. The semi-finals of the Europa League fill us with hope. We want to do something great in that competition. From here, our focus is on Thursday."

Mircea Lucescu: "I think the final score reflects the game. We created a lot of chances in the first half and could have scored four goals rather than just the two we got. But in the closing stages of the match we tired a bit and made a lot of mistakes in defence. We still have every chance of making it to the final following this result, though. We have been doing well in away games. The players are upset because of the late goal, but we have to get over this and move on. We still have a good chance of making it to the final."
