Shah Rukh Khan's much awaited movie Happy New Year trailer has so far been a disappointment for fans and critics.

The trailer is one of the longest for any Indian movie and has created quite a buzz before its release.

However, the hype couldn't translate into popularity and despite being an SRK movie, the HNY trailer was labelled as an average trailer by fans.

So far, the trailer has managed to garner 2.5 million views on YouTube.

In the Farah Khan- directed movie, King Khan is playing the character Charlie, a fearless thief and a genius hacker who leads a team of losers to carry out one of the biggest heist, Bollywood Boxoffice reported.

After watching the Happy New Year trailer, Salman Khan fans have a thing or two to say to SRK, who feels the Chennai Express star is copying the Kick star's role.

Salman's recent blockbuster movie Kick has created new box office records and has already broken all records to become the top grosser Indian movie of the year so far.

In his last movie, the Dabangg star plays a super thief and a master mind hacker who plans perfect heists just to get a high (kick) in life.

King Khan's upcoming movie, however, is about a bunch of losers who will participate in the world dance competition in order to execute the biggest heist masterminded by the super thief Charlie.

Previously, after the super success of Hrithik Roshan's Krrish, the Chak De star did a super hero movie Ra One, which in spite of its high quality special effects, did not go down well with critics and received lukewarm response from audiences too.

It will be interesting to see how the new movie will be received by both fans and critics when it will be released during Diwali, the Indian festival of light, this year.

The movie is expected to become a blockbuster, but SRK will face stern competition from his arch-rival Salman, who is currently ruling the Indian box office with his action thriller Kick.

Shahrukh's Happy New Year will be released on 23 October and stars Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan in key roles.
