MEP Sharon Bowles has derided the way European nations have acted in the wake of the Cyprus crisis as both shocking and shameful, saying that the bullying actions of countries such as Germany are evidence that the unifying spirit that led to the formation of the European Union has now been killed.

Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, Bowles has played a crucial role in enforcing bank regulation in response to the Eurozone sovereign debt crisis. In a video exclusive, she spoke to IB Times UK about the challenges of the role and what needed to be achieved in Brussels to both contain the crisis and make sure it does not occur again.
