Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has claimed Angel Di Maria is Real Madrid's best player after the Manchester United target excelled once again during the Spanish Super Cup 1-1 draw first leg final.

Simeone's side blocked any Real Madrid attempts during the first half but eventually lost control of the game after Di Maria came on in the 77th minute.

The Argentinian was crucial on the left side and received a standing ovation from his own supporters amid speculation that he is set to move away, with both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain monitoring the situation.

And Simeone has questioned Real Madrid's reported decision to sell him, claiming that he is even better than current Ballon D'or Cristiano Ronaldo and £91m record signing Gareth Bale.

"In the first-half despite defending close to our area we had three or four chances to score a goal. The second half was more or less the same, with a little bit better play from Madrid with the introduction of Di Maria," Simeone said in the press conference.

"That was logical because he is the best player they have. It is an important draw and allows us to play a for the trophy at home with a 50-50 chance.

"It is my opinion that Di Maria is Madrid's best player for sure. His ability to change games in the middle of the park helps everyone else to play well."

Real Madrid manager quickly responded to the Atletico Madrid boss, insisting about Ronaldo's and Bale's talent.

"He has forgotten the World Player of the Year and Bale, who scored in Lisbon. He has forgotten many players, but it is true Di Maria is one of many great players we have."

And when questioned whether the Argentinian will stay at the Santiago Bernabeu or move away, he said: "He is a Real Madrid player and I will use him as I think is best."
