Liverpool travel to Switzerland on 10 December to take on Sion, requiring only a point to be placed on top of the group. Jurgen Klopp has previously said that he will be taking this competition seriously but is likely to rest a few key players to keep them fresh for their Premier League game against West Bromwich Albion in the coming weekend.

Where to Watch Live

Kick-off is set for 6pm GMT. Live coverage of the game will be on BT Sport Europe and BT Sport Europe HD.

Overview

Sion are with a fully fit squad, with the exception of defender Birama N'Doye, who is suspended after being sent off in their last game against Rubin Kazan. The Swiss club are only a point behind the Reds but will need to win the game to top the group and secure a potentially easier draw in the next round. The reverse fixture between the two sides at Anfield ended in a 1-1 draw, with Brendan Rodgers in charge of the Reds at that time.

Jurgen Klopp will be without Daniel Sturridge, who picked up a hamstring strain following their match against Newcastle last weekend. The striker will be unavailable for up to 10 days, with the manager not willing to take any risks with regards to his return date. However, Philippe Coutinho is likely to be fit for the game after recovering from a hamstring injury, but is likely to start from the bench.

The manager will be urging his team to step up to the task after a disappointing outing against Newcastle where they lost 2-0. The result came days after they completely annihilated Southampton at the St Mary's, winning the game 6-1, but question marks have emerged over their consistency, something they need to take note of if they have to close the gap on the top four.

What Managers Say

Jurgen Klopp: "Sion are a good counter attack team [with] a good idea of the game. I know they play on Sunday against Basel in the cup quarter-final. It's ten weeks since we last played Sion – in England that's 425 games! Watching the last three games [of an opponent] is more important than our last game against them. We are absolutely prepared. The injury [to Sturridge] is not that serious. He felt something in the muscle when shooting against Newcastle. We have to build up his resistance. It is not easy to say when he will be back."
