Sony has recently confirmed the roll-out of the latest official firmware for the Xperia Z Ultra. With base firmware 14.1.B.2.257, the update is based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

The 14.1.B.2.257 build is available for both HSPA+ and LTE version of Xperia Z ultra bearing model numbers C6802 and C6833 respectively. The 14.1.B.2.257 build marks significant improvement over the previous 14.1.B.1.532, notes Xperia Guide. The previous 14.1.B.1.532 was having several bug issues such as fake hang issue and SOD issue.

The new 14.1.B.2.257 build integrates a number of notable features and enhancements such as optimised display and improved battery life. Below is the official changelog.

The Android 4.2.2 (14.1.B.2.257) firmware can be installed as Over-The-Air update as through PCC and SUS. To install the OTA update navigate to Settings>> System>> About phone>> Software update>> OK.

Several members at XDA have confirmed the update and have noted that the update is stable and fast.

Besides, Sony has released a major firmware update for its camera-smartphone, Xperia Z1 as well. The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update with base firmware 14.1.G.2.257 is released for both HSPA+ and the LTE variants of the handset bearing model number C6902 and C6903.
