Overview

Alastair Cook started the four-match series with a win as England sealed a comfortable victory at Kingsmead, Durban. He has never led his side to a series victory against South Africa and has a very good chance of sealing the opportunity this time around.

In the first Test, Moeen Ali was the star player for the Three Lions with the ball. He picked up four wickets in the first innings, followed by three in the second to help England register a 241 runs victory over the No 1 Test team in the world.

English batsmen should also be credited as Nick Compton, James Taylor and wicket-keeping batsman Jonny Bairstow's contribution cannot go unnoticed. The visitors have an advantage after the first Test win and they will be looking to trouble the Proteas, who will be without the services of star bowler Dale Steyn.

James Anderson, who missed the first Test due to an injury, is set to miss the second match. His absence did not cost England in the opening match. Hashim Amla's side will be looking to bounce back and level the series, which will provide them the opportunity to win the series.
