Southampton take on Manchester City in the 2015/16 Premier League fixture at the St Mary's Stadium on Sunday, 1 May.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 4:30pm BST. Live coverage is on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 1 HD. Catch the highlights of the match on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One and BBC One HD at 10:30pm BST.

Overview

Southampton come into the fixture after registering a 4-2 victory over Aston Villa, who have been relegated from the Premier League. They were the first team to be demoted to the Championship next season.

The Saints have lost just one of their last seven fixtures and Ronald Koeman will be hoping his side can continue their recent impressive run when they face the former Premier League winners. In the last seven home matches, the Saints suffered defeat only once, which came at the hands of Chelsea.

City, on the other hand, enter the match after the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid ended in a goalless draw. The match was played at the Etihad and it was vital that they did not concede any away goal.

It will be crucial for Manuel Pellegrini's side to win the clash against Southampton as they look to finish the season in the top four and also qualify for the final of the Europe's elite club competition. A slip up could see them miss out on both.

What manager says

Ronald Koeman: "The club makes a five-year plan and of course I'm interested in how we see the plan and discuss about that plan and agree or not. It was good to see they still have ambition to grow and to make the next step."

Manuel Pellegrini: "I said before we knew we were going to play eight games in 30 days, which is a lot for this squad so I'm making rotations in every game we play. We have two different competitions, one is the Premier League where we want to be as near to the top of the table as we can and the other is to try and reach the final."
