A video has emerged of the moment a Southend supporter charging into fans of local rivals Colchester and launched a flurry of punches before casually walking back across the pitch during an ill-tempered Essex derby.

Southend scored three goals in the final 10 minutes of the League One match to run in as 3-0 winners. The late goals sparked goading from each set of fans, with one from the away end then deciding to take matters into his own hands.

The footage shows the man hopping over advertising boards and running towards home fans and swinging in a windmill style to cheers from some Southend fans. The man, who has short dark hair and was wearing black shoes, black jeans and a black coat, then casually saunters back across the pitch towards the stand he was in.

Colchester United football officer PC Niki Howard said the scenes were "unacceptable". "We will, however, do everything we can to identify those responsible and ensure they won't cause problems at football again," she said.
