Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo was the fastest in the qualifying session and took pole for the 2015 MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix at Circuito de Jerez.

Overview

Lorenzo clocked a time of 1:37.910s and that helped him take the pole for Sunday's race. His compatriot and defending champions Marc Marquez was 0.390s behind him as the Honda rider will start the Spanish Grand Prix from second spot.

Ducati rider Andrea Iannone has been impressive with his form this season as he was third. The Italian, along with Lorenzo and Marquez will lock horns for the front row. Tech 3 rider Pol Espargaro was fourth, while Valentino Rossi will start the race from fifth spot after clocking a time of 1:38.632s.

Marquez has a very good chance of winning the race and reducing the gap at the top. With Rossi starting three places behind him, the Honda rider has to get past Lorenzo and maintain the gap at the top to finish first on Sunday.
