In this week's Sport Spotlight, IBTimes UK sport editor Nick Howson looks at Australia's victory over New Zealand in the 2015 Cricket World Cup final, Sebastian Vettel's shock win for Ferrari at the Malaysian Grand Prix and a weekend to savour for the home nations as England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland all secured wins in their Euro 2016 qualifying matches.

Australia crush New Zealand to win fifth World Cup title

In what was billed as a close contest, Australia romped to a comprehensive victory over New Zealand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It was a deserved victory for the Kangaroos and a fitting send-off for retiring ODI captain Michael Clarke.

Vettel victory opens up clash between Mercedes and Ferrari

Mercedes were expected to conquer all before them this F1 season but were left stumped as Sebastian Vettel secured a first win for Ferrari since 2013. It will now be interesting to see if Ferrari, one of the great names in F1, can mount a title challenge against Mercedes and if 27-year-old Vettel can challenge Lewis Hamilton for the championship this season.

Home nations on a hot streak

The great form of the home nations continued with England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland all winning their Euro 2016 qualifying matches. While England's 4-0 defeat of Lithuania and Scotland's 6-1 thrashing of Gibraltar hardly set hearts racing, Wales 3-0 win away to Israel was hugely impressive, as was Northern Ireland's 2-1 victory over Finland. With a bit of luck and hard work, there's now a good chance all four home nations could be represented at the expanded Euro 2016 tournament in France.
