PacketVideo has filed a patent infringement complaint against music streaming service Spotify.

The complaint was made in U.S. Southern District of California and addresses include the Luxembourg and UK divisions of Spotify.

The complaint alleges that Spotify's tech illegally infringes on a patent for ""Device for the Distribution of Music in Digital Form."

In its complaint PacketVideo alleged that it had contacted Spotify regarding the patent earlier this year in May. The company went on to claim that Spotify, despite being made aware of the infringement, made no attempt to contact PacketVideo, or rectify the problem.

For Spotify's "willful" infringement on PocketVideo's patent, the company is seeking triple damages against Spotify. The company has requested that the court block Spotify until it pays PocketVideo royalties to use the patented tech.

Spotify has not yet released any official statement regarding PocketVideo's complaint.
