St Lucia Zouks take on Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 23rd match of the 2016 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet on Sunday (24 July).

Overview

The team currently placed fifth on the the points table, St Lucia Zouks have six points from six games winning three and losing three encounters so far. The Zouks outfit come into this clash on the back of a seven wicket win over Barbados Tridents in their last game on 23 July.

Skipper Darren Sammy again led from the front picking up three wickets, giving away 18 runs in his four overs and was adjudged the player of the match. This is his second award in consecutive games and Sammy has shown how he adds value to the Zouks outfit.

They side have played six games, which is the least played among the six franchises competing in the tournament. The team management are aware that Zouks need to maintain winning ways if they wish to qualify for the knock-out stages.

Their opponents, the Guyana Amazon Warriors last played on 15 July, which means they have had some good rest coming into the last and crucial week of CPL 2016. The Warriors are currently placed second on the points table with 10 points from seven games, winning five and losing two.

Their two losses cams at the hands of league leaders Jamaica Tallawahs, which shows that they have dominated over other teams in the tournament and will be confident of pulling off a win. The loss of skipper Martin Guptill will be a big blow to the side as the Kiwi is travelling to Zimbabwe on national duty. In his absence there will be an increased responsibility on Dwayne Smith, Chris Lynn and Jason Mohammad who are key in the batting department.
