Overview

Defending champion Wawrinka came into this tournament not in the best of form, but he has stormed back especially after his epic 4-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Lukas Rosol in the first round. The Swiss international has since then cruised past his opponents, which shows that he is a cut above the competition at the moment.

The World No 4 is an unpredictable player but he does thrive on the major stage and the deeper he gets, the more dangerous he is.

World Number 55, Ramos-Vinolas is playing on his favourite surface, the clay courts, and will be on a high after reaching the first Grand Slam quarter-final of his career. However, his record against top 10 ranked opponents is nothing to talk about, losing to three of them prior to the French Open. He is not expected to cause an upset but can still give his opponent some nervous moments on the court.
