The killer fan-pleasing shot of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer LucasFilm

There are months to go before Star Wars The Force Awakens premieres in theatres. However, numerous plot spoilers and on-set picture and video leaks have baffled the stars and director JJ Abrams.

During a recent interview with Yahoo Movies, Oscar Isaac, who plays the character of Poe Dameron in the highly popular science fiction thriller, said that the constant plot spoilers and images and video leaks on the internet are distracting and disappointing.

"I can't speak for the cast and crew," the actor told Yahoo! Movies. "For me I thought, Don't you want to wait so you can get the real thing?"

However, he admits that the small leaks generate more interest among fans and that the fan theories and spoilers are totally wrong.

"It creates excitement for it. I don't think these little leaks necessarily ruined watching the trailer. And also, the [plot theories] that get that formulated based on these things — they couldn't be more far off-base."

Issac also spoke about the amount of secrecy that is being maintained on the movie sets.

"They're incredibly protective, because nowadays, with however many hundreds of blogs and this and that, people are just ravenous for content."

Earlier J J Abrams also appealed to his fans to stop leaking the Star Wars pictures with a hand written note which he placed on a surface that looks exactly like the holographic chess table from the original Star Wars where R2-D2 played against Chewbacca, Yahoo Movies reported.

Abrams' message reads, "I wish people would stop leaking photos from Episode VII. And making ridiculous claims that the Millennium Falcon is in the movie. JJ"

Star Wars 7 is the first of a new trilogy and stars original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker alongside Andy Serkis, Max von Sydow, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and Domhnall Gleeson, plus relative newcomers and British actors John Boyega and Daisy Ridley.

The movie is scheduled for release on 18 December 2015.
