Star Wars: The Force Awakens unleashed a new and dreadful villain in the form of Kylo Ren, the son of General Leia Organa and Han Solo. Speculations are high that the grandson of Darth Vader will have a major role to play in Star Wars 8 and his backstory will be vital for the movie's storytelling.

In episode VII of the Star Wars franchise, Adam Driver's character killed his father Han when the former space smuggler urged him to abandon the dark side and return to the family as their son. Obsessed with the dark powers, Ren killed his father. This was his way to prove that he won't repeat Anakin Skywalker's mistake. In the Return of The Jedi, the Sith Lord killed the Emperor to save his son Luke Skywalker but got severely injured in the process and later died.

Movie Pilot suspects that the upcoming movie will feature the backstory of Ren and that fans may be able to see how he turned towards the dark side. The website also quotes a conversation between Leia and Han in The Force Awakens novel where they discuss how Supreme Leader Snoke was having his evil eye on their family.

"He knew our child would be strong with the Force. That he was born with equal potential for good or evil.... In the beginning, even before I realized what was happening, he was manipulating everything, pulling our son towards the Dark Side," Leia tells Han in the novel.

Entertainment website What Culture speculates that Ren might not have a long lifespan for his irredeemable actions of killing his own father. It will be interesting to see how Luke and Rey form the perfect team and defeat Ren and Snoke in order to maintain galactic peace.

The filming for the eighth movie is currently underway in Skellig Michael, Ireland, and Dubrovnik, Croatia. The untitled Star Wars movie is scheduled to premiere in December 2017.
