EA Access subscribers on Xbox One can download and play Star Wars Battlefront right now for up to ten hours before the game's release date next week. The pre-release access arrives over a week before the game's European launch on 20 November.

If you subscribe to EA's service, simply enter the app, go to the games list and select Battlefront to start the download, which is just 19GB in total for the entire game. Once that is complete you'll be free to enjoy a ten hour head start over your non-subscriber friends.

Better still, once the preview period is over all progress and unlocks will transfer over to the full game, which will be available at a 10% discount through EA Access if bought digitally.

EA Access is available for £3.99 a month or £19.99 for a 12 month subscription. It offers extensive previews of upcoming games the week before release and full games on demand thanks to its vault, which currently includes Battlefield Hardline, Dragon Age Inquisition, Titanfall, Battlefield 4, and past iterations of EA Sports series.

Star Wars Battlefront is sure to dominate the Christmas period, thanks of course to the enormous amount of hype surrounding the cinema release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but EA DICE's game appears to be shaping up nicely. While there was a mixed response overall to the public beta test - which attracted 9 million players - we were very impressed, particularly with the visual and sound design.

The game will be released widely on Friday 20 November.
