Just hours after US President Barak Obama's surprise visit to the capital of Afghanistan last night, a suicide bomb attack has killed at least 6 people there.

Here are some of the first pictures we're receiving of the blast site in Kabul. The bomb went off in a car just after six this morning, close to a US military base and a housing complex for Westeners. Four civilians, a security guard and a student were said to be killed. 16 people were wounded and are being treated in various hospitals because of the varying nature of their injuries.

The blast comes as Obama visited the country to mark one year since the death of Osama Bin Laden. The President also an historic pact with the Afghan President Hamid Karzai, pledging to 'finish the job'.

Barak Obama then went onto meet soldiers at Baghram Air Base and told them that the way isn't over yet but there's a 'light at the end of the tunnel' because of the sacrifices they've made.

However critics who claim that patience with the war is wearing thin, say his visit and a TV address marked a cynical chapter of his current election campaign.
