Asamoah Gyan is expected to start after he shrugged off the ankle injury sustained at Liverpool last weekend but John O'Shea is only rated 50/50 as he struggles to recover from a hamstring injury.

For Newcastle, Hatem Ben Arfa is ruled out with an ankle injury but Sylvain Marveaux and Shane Ferguson could feature after they both played in a midweek friendly.
