Overview

Swansea started the season with a 1-0 victory over Burnley on the opening day. Since then, they have failed to win in the next five matches. Francesco Guidolin's future at the Welsh club is uncertain and the results have not favoured the 60-year-old Italian manager. He will be hoping to avoid defeat against the Merseyside club.

In the last five fixtures between the two clubs, Swansea have managed only one win, which came earlier in May at the Liberty Stadium. The Swans sealed a 3-1 victory over the Reds and will be looking to do the same once again when they host Liverpool.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have lost only once in the Premier League, which came during their 2-0 defeat to Burnely. Against Tottenham Hotspur, they settled for a draw and in the remaining four fixtures, they have managed victories over Hull City, Chelsea, Leicester City and Arsenal.

Jurgen Klopp saw his side score 11 goals in last three matches and that has helped them manage 16 goals in six matches. They are two goals short of Manchester City, who are leading the goal scoring charts and also the league table.

What managers say

Francesco Guidolin: "It's not easy [to beat Liverpool]. But if we win on Saturday for the period of the international break you don't speak any more about my position. But my position [as manager] is not important, Swansea's [league] position is important, and we must get a result."

Jurgen Klopp: "They [Swansea] played much better than four points look like. They are a good football-playing side with a clear plan and different options in their style of play, good defending. If you want, it's a typical Premier League problem - you analyse an opponent and think 'okay, that's quite strong'. If they are unlucky in a situation for them, lucky in a situation for the opponent, the summary is four points."
