Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal will want revenge when his team visit the Liberty Stadium following the opening day defeat that shocked everybody.

Manchester United come into this game as one of the form teams of the league having lost just one game in their last 15 encounters.

The Red Devils are fighting with four other teams for two places in the top four behind leaders Chelsea and contenders Manchester City and will be keen to take home the three points and maintain their third position on the table.

Apart from Michael Carrick, the manager has a fully fit squad to choose from, and Robin van Persie could be back into the starting lineup after missing the game against Preston North End.

What Managers Say

Garry Monk [on Wayne Rooney playing in midfield]: "I've thought for a number of years Rooney will end up in midfield with his range of passes. I can remember Scholes doing it, starting out as a forward and dropping back into midfield and Rooney is the same. But he's such a threat in both areas, he has the quality to make the midfield tick and score goals."

Louis van Gaal [on opening day loss to Swansea City]: "We came from the United States where we had won everything, so that was a big shock at that moment. Everyone wants to follow that philosophy and you can see that in the team spirit of the team which is unbelievable. I think that the confidence at this moment is the same as then, because we had won everything in the United States against big clubs."
