AT&T Now Rolling out Windows Phone 8.1 With Cortana and Lumia Cyan Updates to Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 Users Reuters

America's major wireless carrier AT&T has announced that it is seeding Microsoft's Lumia Cyan and Windows Phone 8.1 updates, to Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 premium smartphone users.

Announcing the rollout in an official blog post, AT&T states that Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 users subscribed to the AT&T wireless network would be among the first to receive the Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Cyan update for their premier Lumia smartphones.

Prior to the latest rollout, AT&T had last month seeded the Windows Phone 8.1/Lumia Cyan updates to Lumia 1020 owners subscribed to the company's wireless network.

Enhancements brought along by the Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Cyan updates:

One major enhancement that users can check out is Microsoft's PDA Cortana. According to AT&T, users of Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 can check out for Microsoft's virtual assistant, upon successfully installing the latest Lumia Cyan update.

Windows Phone 8.1 update also features Microsoft's Internet Explorer 11 web browser, a customisable lockscreen, pull down notification bar and an extra 'live tiles' column (optional) on the homescreen.

Also, according to AT&T, users can check out in the Windows Phone 8.1 update, the Word Flow Keyboard.

"The updated Word Flow keyboard with Windows Phone 8.1 knows your contacts, learns your phrases and has shape writing integrated right in so there's no need for a separate app," states AT&T.

On the other hand, Lumia Cyan is a firmware upgrade and is applicable to Lumia smartphones only. This update brings camera and camera roll enhancements to Lumia smartphones.

With the Lumia Cyan update, owners of Lumia smartphones can save games and applications directly to a microSD card.

To install the update manually, owners of Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 smartphones can click the Settings Live Tile > then tap Phone Update.
