This week we are celebrating the 10th birthday of Facebook, the social network which has come to redefine the way the world communicates in the last decade.

Now with almost one in five of the world's population using Facebook on a regular basis, it is remarkable to think that it was only 10 years ago that Mark Zuckerberg and his four co-founders switched on what was then called TheFacebook.com to their fellow Harvard students.

Over the last 10 years Facebook has changed completely, dropping the 'the' from its name, expanding globally and moving inexorably towards a mobile experience.

As Zuckerberg turns his attention toward the five billion people who don't yet have access to the internet, Facebook will no doubt change once again through its teenage years, and it will be interesting to see what company emerges in another 10 years time.
