Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert engaged: Cleveland Cavaliers player proposes at baby shower

There were double the celebrations for Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert over the weekend as the couple got engaged. Cleveland Cavaliers player Shumpert popped the question to the r'n'b singer at the baby shower for their unborn child on 7 November 2015.

Hosted at the Museum Of Contemporary Art in Cleveland, Ohio, the couple were celebrating the impending arrival of their daughter when Shumpert, 25, got down on one knee and proposed. Sharing the news via Instagram, Taylor, 24, posted a photo of her ruby-stone engagement ring with the caption: "I am his Ruby Woo... I'm still speechless. I love you baby." Alongside another photo of the ring, the singer quoted lyrics from a song by singer Monica, which read: "Before your love baby I was muddy/ So deep with pain till you took it from me/ You showered me with a new beginning.

"Now I'm clean/ Took me by surprise when you ran up on me, I came to life baby in that moment/ You put your hands on my heart and baby now it beats" Thank You @imanshumpertfor putting the color back in my life! I love you so much & thank you@monicabrown for those beautiful lyrics. You spoke to my soul girl! [sic]"

In September 2015, the couple announced that Taylor is pregnant with their first child who is due on 16 January 2016. Sharing the joyful news, Shumpert posted a photo of the scan and told his followers: "Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr is expected to enter this world '1.16.16'. We want that world to be as pure as possible for her. We people, show the world what we feel the world should see when we want them to see it... something this beautiful had to be announced when we were ready for everyone to know."

Shortly after announcing her pregnancy, Taylor stated that she would be working through her pregnancy, telling Karen Civil: "No, no, no the work does not stop. The studio will be built in the house, and music already calms my daughter when she's upset. I'm sure the records will be coming." She added of her pregnancy: "My body is changing every minute of the day. I feel it all... I embrace it all... I love what is to come of it."

Taylor released her debut album VII in November 2014 and featured collaborations with her longtime friend Chris Brown, Pusha T and Fabolous.
