Millions in the US and all over the world held their celebrations for Thanksgiving yesterday (26 November), with plenty of posts qand images about being thankful and enjoying the inevitable feast making it to several Instagram and Twitter accounts. As expected, even famous faces were in the sharing mood - uploading the antics they got up to all over social media.

From Kim Kardashian to Dwayne Johnson and Elizabeth Banks, here are some of IBTimesUK's favourites from the holiday...

Kim Kardashian took to Instagram to post a mountain-top photograph of her entire family, with the caption: "THANKFUL". The only one missing was Rob Kardashian, but hey, someone needed to take the photo we guess!

Another celebrity sharing how they spent the relaxing holiday was Kourtney Kardashian, who snapped a candid shot of the back of what looked like her youngest son, Reign's head as the pair watched A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.

Whilst not American, British comedian Ricky Gervais took the opportunity to wish US a happy thanksgiving. But he also made sure he said "happy day of the week" to the rest of the world too!

Katy Perry shot a video of her 94-year-old grandma, who she often features on her social media, saying, "happy Thanksgiving". The Roar hit-maker captioned the short snippet: "I'm thankful for good [genes] #94andkillingthegame"

Both John Legend and Chrissy Teigen shared their celebrations on Instagram. Legend welcomed the "return of the deep fried turkey," whilst his pregnant wife posted a funny montage of how her husband and their guests looked after their Thanksgiving feast.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 star Elizabeth Banks took to Twitter, posting an image of herself holding a bottle of alcohol. She wrote alongside the picture: "#happythanksgiving feeling grateful for healthy kids, friends, family, yummy food, husband & aperol spritz!"

After taking part in Macy's Thankgiving Day parade, singer Mariah Carey shared a snap of her waving on her float.

There's no denying that One Direction have tonnes of fans in the US, so the British boy-band took to Instagram to wish their Directioners across the pond a happy thanksgiving. Liam Payne was the subject of the snap, posing in oven gloves and a polkadot apron.

Dwayne Johnson certainly looked like he was enjoying his day off on Thanksgiving yesterday. His dog Hobbs on the other hand, didn't look so enthusiastic...

Like Mariah Carey, Eva Longoria was at the Macy's Parade in New York City on Thanksgiving Day. However, she wasn't part of the celebrations (in this snap), she was part of the crowd. Later she joined Al Roker on a float to wave to the procession.

Trey Songz was another celebrity who performed during the NYC Macy's Day Parade. He shared a snap of himself and Miss America after he took part.

Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka shared a snap of themselves making special Thanksgiving Day-themed desserts with their children, Gideon and Harper. Four-year-old Gideon decided to make rather ambitious pumpkin parfaits. We're impressed.
