Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War
Tom Holland is cast as Peter Parker in Marvel's Spider-Man reboot Marvel Studios

After the release of Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland has officially joined the list of great actors who have played Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 19-year-old actor's portrayal of the web-slinging superhero has earned him appreciation from fans as well as critics. And now, the teenager has found himself another famous fan, the original Spider-Man of the big-screen, Toby Maguire.

The Pawn Sacrifice actor, who was cast as the first Spider-Man in director Sam Raimi's trilogy took to Instagram to praise Holland's work in Civil War. He posted a fan video and captioned it, "Haha seriously, who made this? @tomholland2013 good job! You are great as Spider-Man. Keep it up!" The hilarious mashup shows the Maguire Spider-Man staring wide-eyed at the Holland played superhero in disbelief.

Maguire, 40, had extended the same support for Andrew Garfield as well, who starred in The Amazing Spider-Man, and its 2014 sequel. Maguire had previously said of Garfield playing the superhero, "I was certainly curious as to who was going to play Peter Parker. When I heard it was you [Garfield], I was literally like, 'F***ing perfect!"

While it has been a long time since the original Spider-Man donned his superhero costume, Maguire surely has a lot to be credited for. If it was not for Raimi and his crew's performance in the earliest Spider-Man movies, Marvel Comics movies would not have been this grand a success. Indeed as the red-and-blue-costume wearing superhero, Maguire paved the future for MCU.

In the meantime, Tom Holland seems to be preparing for his role in the standalone movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. Until then, the actor has some rave reviews to rake in from the success of the Captain America movie.
