1 | Papiss Cisse v Chelsea | 2nd May, 2012

There was a case for including Cisse's first goal against Chelsea in this list but his second topped anything we saw in the Premier League this season. The strike needs little by way of introduction and was an easy pick for goal-of-the-season. Alan Pardew called it "astonishing" but words fail to do the strike justice.

2| Peter Crouch v Man City | 24th March, 2012

An audacious volley from the Stoke frontman was a sure-fire bet for goal of the season before Cisse's strike a few weeks later. Cushioning Jermaine Pennant's header with his right foot, Crouch set himself up for a volley with the same foot which he hit in a perfect arc over Joe Hart and into the far corner.

3| Luis Suarez v Norwich | 28th April, 2012

The Liverpool striker's third goal - to complete a hat-trick - at Carrow Road was almost as good technically as David Beckham's goal against Wimbledon in 1996. Collecting Glen Johnson's clearance upfield on the halfway line, the Uruguayan ignored Steven Gerrard - in acres of space to his left - before sending a 45-yard lob over the back-pedalling John Ruddy.

4| Robin van Persie v Everton | 10th December, 2011

Everton appeared in no immediate danger when Alex Song floated a pass towards a heavily marked Robin van Persie on the edge of the 18-yard line. But as he peeled away from Phil Jagielka the threat became apparent. The Dutchman allowed the ball to drop over his right shoulder before hitting a left-footed shot of exquisite poise past a flat-footed Tim Howard and into the corner. Splendid.

5| Hatem Ben Arfa v Bolton Wanderers | 9th April, 2012

Instigating the move with a cheeky back heel in his own half, the Newcastle winger drove for the Bolton goal with Messi-esque poise and purpose, skipping past opponents with ease before side-footing his shot past goalkeeper Adam Bogdan.

6| Sebastian Coates v QPR | 21st March, 2012

Liverpool's opening goal came from a most unlikely source in this chastening 3-2 defeat at Loftus Road. A Stewart Downing shot was cleared off the line by Bobby Zamora and, as the ball fell on the edge of the QPR box, Coates produced an acrobatic scissor kick that rocketed past goalkeeper Paddy Kenny.

7 | Craig Gardner v Sunderland | 3rd January, 2012

The abhorrent conditions at the DW Stadium in January should take nothing away from Craig Gardner's impressive free-kick which left goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi stranded to his line.

8 | Franco Di Santo v Newcastle | 28th April, 2012

Shaun Maloney's pass found Di Santo 25 yards from goal and, with Cheik Tiote standing off; the Argentine lofted a sublime curling chip into the Newcastle goal.

9| Gareth Bale v Manchester City | 4th March, 2012

Gareth Bale's 65th minute strike was the pick of the goals in a pulsating encounter at the Etihad Stadium in January. The Wales midfielder took Aaron Lennon's pass on the edge of the area and slotted a spectacular finish high into the top corner, beyond goalkeeper Joe Hart.

10| Luka Modric v Liverpool | 18th September, 2011

A delightful strike from the Croatian midfielder opened the scoring in Tottenham's 4-0 victory over Liverpool back in September. After Jermain Defoe lost the ball to the left centre on the 18-yard line, Modric hit a curling right-footed shot high into the corner of Pepe Reina's net.
