Andre Villas-Boas
Andre Villas-Boas is said to have survived crisis talks with Daniel Levy.

Reports are speculating that Andre Villas-Boas has had crisis talks with Daniel Levy though the Tottenham manager insists that the situation surrounding his future is out of his hands.

Spurs fell to an embarrassing 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool at the weekend just as the side were recovering from their 6-0 loss to Manchester City nearly a month ago.

What made this most recent loss even worse was that it took place at White Hart Lane and Villas-Boas' job is currently under more pressure than ever before as a result. But the Daily Mail claim that while the manager has survived discussions with Levy, he is aware his job hangs by a thread at present.

Levy reportedly backed the Portuguese tactician to turn things around but only in a short-term sense and with a busy Christmas period coming up the side are now under the pump to get their season back on track.

Villas-Boas insisted after the Liverpool game that he is focused on getting his side back into a winning frame of mind and has no control over whether Levy will wield the axe.

"It's not my call," he told reporters. "I can't control that. I have to get down to work. That's the only thing I can focus on. The call on that decision is not mine. I won't resign and I'm not a quitter. The only thing I can do is work hard with the players and try and get the results back on track."

He will certainly be used to this kind of pressure, having been sacked by Roman Abramovich after just nine months at Chelsea in 2012.

But whether he will survive this time around, with the manager having taken aim at journalists for their coverage of his situation in recent weeks, remains to be seen.
