Tottenham Hotspur will attempt to bolster their attacking options this week as they prepare offers for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke and his international teammate Nacer Chadli of FC Twente.

Spurs have been linked with a host of attacking players this summer but have thus far only added midfielder Paulinho to their ranks. Now it seems manager Andre Villas-Boas will address the lack of goals from his strikers by attempting to sign Villa's prolific forward Benteke.

The 22 year old scored 19 Premier League goals in a struggling Villa side last season and just last week handed in a transfer request. The Midlands club have made their stance very clear by stating that they will only listen to offers that match their valuation, believed to be £25m.

A report in the Daily Mail states that Tottenham are prepared to make an offer of £20m in the coming days as they attempt to begin negotiations with Villa chairman Randy Lerner who will be fully aware that there will be interest from several clubs.

Spurs may well be hoping that by making an early offer they can take pole position in the race to sign the Belgium international, who has also been strongly linked with Chelsea and Arsenal.

Benteke reportedly favours a move to White Hart Lane and would look to sign a five-year deal with the club if an offer can be reached with Villa.

While Tottenham aim to sign Benteke to compete with Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor for a place in the first team, it is also believed that they are pushing to complete a deal for FC Twente winger Chadli.

Last week it was claimed in the Independent that Tottenham were ready to make an offer of £7m for the 23 year old as they looked to secure his services with a five-year contract.

However, Dutch publication elfvoetbal.nl reports that Chadli is still waiting for an official offer from Tottenham after rejecting offers from Shakhtar Donetsk and Lokomotiv Moscow.

Swansea City have also contacted the Dutch club about the winger's availability but it is believed that Chadli would prefer a move to Tottenham as they will likely compete for a place in the top four next season.

Chadli scored against Tottenham in the Champions League three years ago and has continued to excel, last season scoring 10 goals in his 22 league appearances.

Should Spurs manage to complete deals for both players then they would join their international teammates Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen who have both impressed since making the move to White Hart Lane.
