Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Manchester United winger Ashley Young after being told that their top target Yannick Bolasie will only be available for a fee in the range of £25m, as reported by the Mirror.

Bolasie has been among Crystal Palace's best players last campaign and has attracted a lot of interest from clubs across the length of the table.

Palace are unwilling to part with their best players this summer, having secured a brilliant deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Yohan Cabaye, who will be a significant upgrade on their midfield options.

Tottenham are unwilling to meet Palace's valuation of the player and are looking to cut a deal for Young, who has only a year left in his current contract with the Red Devils.

The winger is on £110,000 a week at the club according to the report and any move to Tottenham would include a major pay cut, which he may not be willing to consider at this point. At 30, this is likely to be his final contract at a big club and having impressed during the last campaign under Louis van Gaal, will be hoping for some favours before the season begins on 8 August.

Tottenham are expected to let Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend leave the club this summer and need sufficient back-up before completing a deal with interested parties.

The Mirror also reports that they are also keeping a close eye on the situation unfolding with Kevin Mirallas and Kevin McCarthy at Everton, with the latter disgruntled following the club's decision to not hand him a new contract in spite of making a few notable performances following his transfer from Wigan.

Mauricio Pochettino has not been too active on the transfer front thus far, making only one signing in the form of Toby Alderweireld, who will add some strength in depth in defence but needs to add more quality to their squad if they have to beat the likes of Liverpool and secure themselves a top four berth.
