La Liga sensation Borja Baston has two proposals from Tottenham Hotspur and Everton to move to the Premier League ahead of next season, according to AS. The Spanish publication claims Valencia have also earmarked the Atletico Madrid loanee as a priority for the summer transfer window and have thus advanced the negotiations in recent weeks to beat the Premier League sides in the battle for his signature.

The 23-year-old striker made his first-team debut with Atletico Madrid in 2010 under current Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores after drawing comparisons with Fernando Torres in the club academy. He also broke all the club's goal records in the youth system whilst also emerging as top scorer in the Under-17 World Championship with Spain the previous season.

But his development was massively hampered in that debut against Getafe after he suffered a serious knee injury only minutes after entering the pitch. Baston's injury setback forced Atletico Madrid to send him on loan in subsequent seasons to Huesca, Murcia, Deportivo de la Coruna and Zaragoza to continue his progress in the Spanish second division. The Spaniard kept growing until last season at Zaragoza where he made headlines by becoming the second top scorer in the division with 23 goals in 38 appearances.

Atletico then dispatched him to Eibar in the summer to give him his first opportunity in La Liga and the Spaniard has proved that he is ready to take the next step after becoming one of the season's sensations. He has scored 17 goals in 33 appearances for the Basque side, and is the Spanish joint top scorer in La Liga alongside Athletic Club's Aritz Aduriz and Real Betis' Ruben Castro.

Many in Spain have suggested that Diego Simeone should consider finally giving him a chance at the Vicente Calderon next season alongside Antoine Griezmann and Torres. He has also been tipped as a candidate for Vicente Del Bosque's World Cup squad.

But AS claims Atletico Madrid may have different plans as Simeone has earmarked the signing of a top striker like Diego Costa as a top priority for the summer. The club is also said to be considering a transfer deal with a buy-back option in future for Baston.

Valencia are reportedly ready to take advantage of the situation to lure him to Mestalla. However, AS claims that Los Che faces a big competition to secure his services as the striker had already received two proposals from Tottenham and Everton and another from an unnamed Bundesliga side.

Gary Neville's former side, according to the reports, are aware that they couldn't compete economically with Spurs and the Toffees so they are trying to accelerate the negotiations to win the race. Yet, the problem for Los Che is that Atletico do not want to make a final decision until the end of the season.

Meanwhile Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has publicly admitted he is likely to sign a striker as back-up for Harry Kane ahead of next season, with Ligue 1 star Michy Batshuayi also rumoured to be on his shortlist.
