Morgan Schneiderlin

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to make a third bid for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

According to the Mirror, Mauricio Pochettino is not willing to give up on the midfielder, despite the Saints making it clear that he is not for sale.

The north London club's manager is keen on landing the player he managed during his time at Southampton and the player has also indicated that he is keen to join the St Mary's exodus. Also, reports claimed that he had handed in an official transfer request.

However, the Saints are adamant that they will not let any more of their key players leave and manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed that he is not for sale, and is sure he will remain with the south coast club.

Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren, Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers have departed the club and secured moves to bigger clubs in the Premier League.

But it looks like nothing is going to dissuade the Spurs hierarchy and they are set to come in with another bid to tempt Southampton into selling Schneiderlin, on whom the Saints have slapped a £27m price tag.

The White Hart Lane club are not the only ones interested in the midfielder and the club could face stiff competition from arch rivals Arsenal, who are also on the market for a midfielder.

Arsene Wenger is a big admirer of the player, who joined Southampton from his hometown club Strasbourg. The Gunners boss is looking for a strong player in the middle of the park, and could turn to the Frenchman if Arsenal's rumoured move for Sami Khedira fails to materialise.

However, if reports are to be believed, Schneiderlin prefers a move to Tottenham over Arsenal, as he wants to be re-united with his former boss, whom he credits for his surprise call up to the French World Cup squad this summer.
