Tottenham are preparing a move for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama, according to Sky Sports.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to reunite with the midfielder and has made him his top midfield target this summer after missing out on Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United. Alex Song is also on the list of prospective targets for Tottenham, who have made four astute signings thus far and will be looking to put in a much better challenge for a place in the top four this season.

Wanyama is keen on reuniting with Pochettino and will be looking to make the move to north London should an offer be made for his services. However, the Saints are adamant that they are not willing to sell any players this summer, with Ronald Koeman insisting that he is hopeful of keeping hold of all his players this summer after losing a major chunk to Liverpool last season.

They have already had to part with Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne, who has also transferred to Liverpool and there are rumours stating that United are interested in a move for Sadio Mane. However, the boss has rubbished the claims and reiterated that there will be no departures before the window closes.

"There is no bid for any player. Not for Wanyama, not for Sadio, not anyone," Koeman said.

"We have to deal with rumours of the press and maybe somebody of Manchester [United] - I don't know.

"There is no contact and no bid for nobody and we don't sell any more players. That is very clear in my opinion. I don't like [these rumours] because maybe players are thinking and they are not then focused on what they have to do.

"The timing is always bad. Maybe it's worse one day before we play at home but it's always bad. We keep going. It is not September 1 yet. There are still 10 or 11 days to go, so we will see what happens," he added.
