Tottenham have confirmed the signing of former Manchester United youngster Ezekiel Fryers, with the 20 year old set to join Spurs from Standard Liege immediately.

Tottenham had attempted to do a deal for Fryers to move to north London from United last summer, but the clubs were unable to agree a compensation fee as his contract came to an end. Standard were able to take the player for free due to international clubs not having to pay compensation, and though he had trained with Spurs over the summer he made the move to Belgium for the start of the season.

Ezekiel Fryers
Ezekiel Fryers has been a long standing target for Tottenham.

But it seems that now Tottenham have gotten their prize, with the England Under 19 international joining the club's development squad after the clubs reached an agreement for the move.

Fryers only made seven appearances for Standard, but in his time at United he was believed by many to be a player full of potential, moving through the ranks of the national side and featuring in the England under 16, 17 and 19 teams.

He was only on a two year deal in Belgium, and now looks to be a future prospect for Andres Villas Boas as the Portuguese tactician looks to the long-term future as well as building the squad in the short term.
