Inter Milan have confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing midfielder Fredy Guarin this summer.

The Colombia international has been one of the most sought after footballers in this transfer window. Spurs have emerged strong contenders for the 26-year-old's services of late and the Nerazzurri claim their interest is real.

"Guarin? He is a really good player and for that reason he is liked by others. Tottenham are really interested," Inter president Massimo Moratti stressed.

Guarin, valued at around £21m, made 47 appearances in all competitions for Inter last season, notching 10 goals and eight assists. The player, well known for his long range shooting skills, mainly features a central midfielder but can also operate as a playmaker or right winger.

While Tottenham are weighing up a summer move for Guarin, big-spending Anzhi Makhachkala have moved to dismiss speculation liking them with an approach for the Colombian. The Russian outfit also played down their interest in two of Spurs' striker targets: Valenica's Roberto Soldado and Saint-Etienne's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

"In connection with the rumors on the internet that Anzhi allegedly show their interest in several players regarding, including Aubameyang, Guarin and Soldado, we announce that this information has no grounds. Anzhi's authorised representatives didn't hold negotiations with the above-mentioned players," a statement on the club's official website read.

"Persistent mentioning of our club in a chain of such rumors forms the impression, that Anzhi brand is used to increase the players' transfer fee. Anzhi will inform the fans and the media about all real transfers and signed contracts in due time as before," it added.

Meanwhile, Soldado has hinted at a summer switch to Tottenham by expressing his desire to play in the Premier League.

"I'm not closing the door to anyone. I know that some of my Spain team-mates have left La Liga and done very well. The Premier League is very attractive," the Spain international said.

Soldado scored 30 goals in 46 appearances for Valencia last season.
