AC Milan

AC Milan declined to spend vast amounts of money this summer despite being linked with big money moves for Cesc Fabregas and Kaka. The Rossoneri were believed to have made tentative enquiries for Kaka but Real Madrid would not allow the Brazilian to leave on loan. AC Milan did finalise the loan signing of Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani as well as bringing in France defender Philippe Mexes. AC Milan also confirmed the free transfer of Taye Taiwo.

Juventus

Juventus worked hard on securing some major signings this summer. The Italian giants have invested to win Serie A this season after missing out on the Champions League places in the last campaign. Juventus signed Arsenal and Manchester United target Mirko Vucinic as well as making a deadline day swoop for Eljero Elia. Juventus also invested £9.2m on Napoli striker Fabio Quagliarella as well as signing Andrea Pirlo on a free transfer from AC Milan.

Inter Milan

It was a summer of transfer activity at Inter Milan this year but it was mainly transfer out of the club that attracted people's attention. Samuel Eto'o left the club for Anzhi Makhachkala to become the world's highest paid footballer and Wesley Sneijder was linked with moves to Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United all summer. The transfer to England never happened for the Dutchman and Inter Milan made a deadline day swoop for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan as well investing £10.4m of Ricardo Alvarez. Inter also completed the loan signing of Lazio striker Mauro Zarate.

Roma

After being bought by America Thomas DiBenedetto the club passed into American hands after he signed an agreement with banking group UniCredit in August. The new owner set to work to invest heavily to put Roma back at the top of Italian football. The Italian side signed Erik Lamela for £13.25m as well as capturing Miralem Pjanic. Roma also invested in Barcelona striker Bojan and have loaned Manchester City striker Simon Kjaer from Wolfsburg. Roma also landed ex Manchester united and Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze and Dutch international goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg,.
