Tulisa Contostavlos's footballer boyfriend Danny Simpson has reassured fans that he will be "ok" after footage emerged online showing him bleeding and unconscious in the street.

The Newcastle United player was knocked unconscious after being punched during a scuffle in a Manchester takeaway, the Sun reports.

In the clip making the rounds online, the 26-year-old can be seen lying on the ground with his eyes closed and blood dripping from his face.

"He dropped to the floor and was half on the pavement, half on the road with blood pouring from his mouth," a witness told The Sun.

"He was in a bad way. It looked like he'd been knocked out. Everyone crowded round him. He was still breathing but not responsive."

Simpson was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary where he received treatment and was later discharged.

X Factor judge Tulisa, who was holidaying with friends in Marbella at the time of the incident, is said to have been horrified after hearing about the fight.

"Tulisa was shocked and upset when she heard what happened," a source said.

"She was worried that Danny might have been badly hurt but she's been reassured he'll be fine."

Simpson has since used Twitter to let his fans know that he is recovering.

"For the record im okay, 2 on 1 well done!," Simpson told his 230,000 followers on Twitter.

"Thanks to everyone whos tweeted me asking if I'm ok."

Police are not investigating the incident.
