Arsene Wenger will hope Arsenal's Champions League campaign opens without a hitch when they face Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.

Wenger's remains cautious of the German champions but believes his side can overcome their indifferent start to the new Premier League season and grab all three points in their Group F opener.

However, the Frenchman's injury woes deepened on Monday when Aaron Ramsey was ruled out of the Group F clash after injuring his ankle in training. The 20-year-old Welsh international joins fellow midfielders Jack Wilshire and Tomas Rosicky, as well as defender Thomas Vermaelen on the Arsenal injury list.

Deadline day signings Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun could be named in the Gunners' starting XI after impressing against Swansea Saturday. Alex Song and Emmanuel Frimpong provide additional cover in central midfield for Wenger.

Dortmund return to the Champions League after a nine year absence but Wenger remains wary of the threat posed by the Bundesliga side in light of Arsenal's indifferent start to the new Premier League campaign.

"We have high respect for Dortmund, they are a bit similar to Arsenal and we will have to play well against them," Wenger told reporters.

"They are well organised and are very strong going forward. Both teams will both play offensively; it will be a very attractive match to watch."

The German champions have also suffered a mediocre start to the new season, losing 2-1 against Hertha Berlin on Saturday, their second defeat of the season and the first in 18 home games stretching back 12 months.

"They haven't started this season as well as last year, but they will be confident as it is a new competition for them.

"They will give everything for the first 25 minutes and they will have their fans behind them, which will help them."

"For us, it is important to get consistency because that is the first sign of quality for a team. Therefore, it is just adding results to results and that is what we are striving for."

Arsenal will be aware of the danger posed by Germany playmaker Mario Goetze who returns for Dortmund after being suspended for Saturday's defeat.

Coach Jurgen Klopp is without Sven Bender (ankle), Lucas Barrios (thigh) and Marvin Bakalorz (Achilles) but Shinji Kagawa and Kevin Grosskreutz are both in contention to partner Goetze in central midfield.

Wenger will serve the first match of a two-game touchline ban in tonight's clash but Klopp does not believe the Frenchman's absence will provide an advantage for his team.

"I am not sure whether it will be important that he is on the touchline," said Klopp.

"It would be better if maybe Robin van Persie, Theo Walcott or Gervinho wouldn't be on the pitch and play."

Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 3 - 1 Arsenal

Arsenal probable XI: Szczesny; Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Gibbs; Walcott, Arteta, Benayoun, Frimpong, Arshavin; Van Persie.
