Manchester United will be hoping to record their first win of a stuttering Champions League Group C campaign as Sir Alex Ferguson's side travel to Otelul Galati Tuesday.

Despite an unbeaten start to the domestic season, the Premier League champions have made an unimpressive start to their European campaign. After being held 1-1 away at Benfica, United surrendered a two-goal lead at home to draw 3-3 with Basel.

However, last year's beaten finalists are overwhelming favourites for tonight's clash in Bucharest. Otelul have no points from their opening two games, losing 2-1 away to Basel before a 1-0 loss at home to Benfica.

Team News

Ferguson has confirmed Wayne Rooney will start in Romania tonight, after he was surprisingly omitted from the Manchester United starting XI to face Liverpool at the weekend.

Rooney started from the bench at Anfield on Saturday because he was "devastated" at being handed a three-match international ban following his red card against Montenegro earlier this month.

But Ferguson confirmed the England international will be involved from the start this evening.

"When he came on he was quite bubbly," said Ferguson. "He was full of energy and enthusiasm. He was desperate to get on, which is good. When he was sat watching the game he probably said, 'Christ I could be out there'.

"He'll be playing tomorrow. When the initial news came through it was a definite blow for him. He didn't expect that. None of us did."

Ferguson has omitted Rio Ferdinand from the travelling party ahead of Sunday's Manchester derby, but Nemanja Vidic returns to the back-four after recovering from a calf injury.

Vidic is expected to partner Phil Jones in central defence, with the England international suffering no ill-effects from the knock he picked up in Saturday's 1-1 draw.

Midfielder Tom Cleverley (foot) and Brazilian defender Rafael (shoulder) remain side-lined.

Prediction: Otelul Galati 0 Man Utd 2

Manchester United probable XI: De Gea; Evra, Smalling, Jones, Vidic; Young, Fletcher, Anderson, Valencia; Rooney, Hernandez.
