Miesha Tate will face Raquel Pennington in the women's bantamweight category during the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 205 at the Madison Square Garden, New York on Saturday, 12 November.

Overview

Tate returns to the Octagon for the first time since UFC 200 where she lost her bantamweight title to Brazilian Amanda Nunes. Cupcake, as Tate is called, did not look comfortable against Nunes and was quickly battered into a submission loss, however this is a new fight with the American keen to use her superior technical and grappling skills to use.

Tate has been in the news more often for her comments on superstar Ronda Rousey then for her fights, but will know that a win here would put her right back in the race for a chance to reclaim the bantamweight title.

Her opponent America's Raquel Pennington is relatively a newcomer to the UFC company having taken part in six fights so far. That said, the 28-year-old has looked good in her turn out's so far, preferring to strike with her opponents and capable of mixing in takedowns of her own.

The American comes into this clash on the back of a three-match winning streak but what counts against her is her lack of experience on the big stage and also that Tate is a much superior athlete with better technical skills.

Pennington is known to sprawl and brawl to victory and she will need to be at her best if she wants to cause an upset at the historical New York event come 12 November.
