Manchester United are preparing a £35m double swoop in signing the Southampton star duo of Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana in the summer, according to the Express.

David Moyes currently has the services of Patrice Evra and Alexander Buttner as the first choice left-backs in the squad. The Frenchman's contract at Old Trafford terminates at the end of the season and he has not signed a contract extension.

Buttner has failed to cement his place since his move to United in the summer of 2012. Although the Dutchman has impressed with his recent performance, it is unlikely to see him get the nod from the Scot to be the first choice full-back at the club.

Moyes is set for a summer clear-out, which could see 10 first team players making an exit from Old Trafford at the end of the season. The list includes players like Anderson, Luis Nani, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Evra, Ashley Young, Buttner, Shinji Kagawa, Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher.

The report suggests that the former Everton manager has set his sights on Shaw as a long-term replacement for Evra at Old Trafford. The England international has been exceptional for Southampton since breaking into the Saints' first team in 2012.

The 18-year-old has started in 31 league games this season, while making 25 appearances in the previous campaign. Moyes is keen on landing Shaw and is aware that an approach for the left-back will cost United around £20m in the coming transfer window.

United could face competition in signing Shaw as Chelsea are also interested in the defender's signature.

The Express also reports that United are also targeting Shaw's club and national teammate Lallana. The 25-year-old, like the left-back, came up through the ranks of Southampton's youth system and has been an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino's side this season.

Lallana has bagged nine goals and registered six assists in 34 league appearances this season. His form has seen him attract interest from top clubs in England. United are keen on acquiring the English midfielder's services for £15m.

The Daily Mail claims the Glaswegian will be handed a £200m war chest to rebuild the squad in the summer. A move for Shaw and Lallana would cost United around £35m, leaving Moyes with over £150m to spend in signing world class players.
