V Festival 2016 is shaping up to be a very star-studded event with Justin Bieber and Rihanna confirmed as headliners. The annual music festival will return to Chelmsford and Staffordshire to celebrate the best of pop music.

The festival will be held across two locations, Chelmsford's Hylands Park and Staffordshire's Weston Park, on 20 and 21 August. Rihanna, 28, will no doubt perform tracks from her latest album Anti while Bieber, 21, will promote his chart-topping Purpose album. Joining the pair on the line-up are Australian singer-songwriter Sia and French DJ David Guetta.

Boasting an array of artists, the other acts confirmed to perform include Big Sean, Kaiser Chiefs, Bastille, Little Mix, Jess Glynne, Years & Years, Rita Ora, Craig David's TS5 and Tinie Tempah, while a batch of other performers are yet to be announced. Performer James Morrison tweeted after the announcement: "Very happy to be playing @VFestival this year!" while Craig David added: "Can't wait to bring @TS5 to @vfestival THIS summer!!!"

The festival have also announced the addition of the BBC Radio 1 Summer Of Dance stage with DJ Annie Mac announcing the line-up during her Radio 1 show on 4 March. Rihanna's appearance has been billed as her "only UK festival of the summer" and follows her first performance at V in 2011. Tickets for the festival go on sale from 9.30am on 26 February.
