Valencia will look to clinch their first La Liga victory since early November when they face Sporting Gijón at the Mestalla on 31 January.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 3pm GMT. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports 1 HD.

Overview

Rodrigo's first-half goal was enough for Valencia to beat Las Palmas in midweek and progress to the semifinals of the Copa del Rey. The Mestalla club are yet to win in La Liga under Gary Neville, having picked up just five points from their last seven league matches.

Striker Paco Alcácer is still sidelined for the hosts with a knee problem, but goalkeeper Diego Alves could be named on the bench after recovering from a long-term knee injury.

Sporting Gijón ended a six-match winless run by thrashing Real Sociedad 5-1 at El Molinón, with Antonio Sanabria netting a hat-trick. The Asturian outfit have been beaten by Valencia in four of their last five head-to-head encounters in La Liga.

Sporting coach Abelardo Fernández has no fresh injury concerns and could name the same team that beat Real Sociedad.

What managers say

Gary Neville: "Delighted with the clean sheet [against Las Palmas]. Thought we made it damn hard for ourselves. We fought a lot to achieve it. We like to make the Valencia fans suffer a bit, but I am happy for them that we give them a semi-final. They deserved that moment, have been patient with me over these five or six weeks. We need to give them joy."

Abelardo Fernández: "The game [against Real Sociedad] was very frantic but the two early goals helped give the team reassurance. The defence was very good against a player that is very difficult to mark, and the pair of central midfielders read the game well. What's left are the three goals of Sanabria."
