The Vampire Diaries Season 6
The Vampire Diaries season six's official poster CW

The Vampire Diaries season six is just a fortnight away from its grand premiere, but the recent office poster released by the CW network has kept the fans on their toes.

The recently released poster sows Damon and Bonnie holding hands while Elena and Stefan walk together.

The gloomy picture also reveals the loneliness of Caroline along with Matt, Tyler, Jeremy, Alaric and Enzo.

Wetpaint suspects that Caroline may die in the upcoming season of the CW hit series, as this may be the last season of TVD. The website also suspects that Caroline may sacrifice her life in order to bring back the elder Salvatore brother and Bonnie from the Other Side.

The fifth season of the fan-favourite series concluded with a cliffhanger when Damon and Elena plans to sacrifice their lives to kill the Travelers and bring back Stefan while breaking the spell on Mystic Falls.

However, the Project Kaboom could not save Damon and Bonnie to come back from the Other Side, which was on the verge of collapse.

The latest trailer and the official synopsis suggest that Elena is unable to handle the death of her love, and is feeding on humans to kill her depression until she starts Whitmore College again.

Meanwhile, show producer Julie Plec has hinted that there will be psychopathic personality to create problems in the beloved vampires' lives.

"There is a villain-esque person in this season that I'm particularly excited about because it does break the mold a little bit of our villains, which seem to be often very redeemable in their own way," Plec told Entertainment Weekly.

"And we get to explore the deep, dark minds of a psychopathic personality, so I'm very excited about that," she added.

The official synopsis of the premier episode via Christian Post reads: "After spending the past four months coping with the loss of Damon in an unconventional and potentially dangerous way, Elena has returned to Whitmore College for the start of sophomore year," the synopsis begins.

Meanwhile, Caroline is desperate to break the Travelers' spell and struggles to contact Stefan.

"Unable to move on, Caroline is desperate to find a way to reverse the anti-magic spell the Travelers have put over Mystic Falls and grows frustrated when her calls to Stefan go unanswered," the synopsis continues.

"Tyler (Michael Trevino), who is human once again, has a run-in at a football tailgate that tests his ability to control his anger, while Matt (Zach Roerig) worries that Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is dealing with the loss of Bonnie (Kat Graham) in a self-destructive way."

The synopsis also suggests that the younger Salvatore brother is trying to get a lead to bring back his brother and Bonnie back from the Other Side.

"Alaric (Matt Davis), who is struggling to adjust to his new life as a vampire, finds himself in an awkward situation when he meets Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), a beautiful doctor at the university hospital. Last, while everyone believes Stefan is off tracking a lead to get Damon and Bonnie back, Elena is shocked when she learns the truth of what he has really been up to."

The Vampire Diaries season six premieres on 2 October on on The CW.
