Victoria Beckham has been named Britain's most successful entrepreneur of 2014.

The former Spice Girl beat Sir James Dyson and Dame Vivienne Westwood after her fashion brand, Victoria Beckham, turned over £30m last year and rose by 2,900% in the past five years, according to the list of Britain's top 100 entrepreneurs created by business magazine Management Today.

It showed her current wealth stands at an estimated £210m overtaking her husband David, who was reportedly worth £165m in 2013. Her staff has also increased by 3,233%, from initially three to now 100 employees.

She launched her fashion label in 2008 and won Designer Brand of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2011.

"She gets a lot of stick for being a celeb fashionista but I don't think that's fair. She has built something real out of her own celebrity which is quite a contemporary story. She deserves to be celebrated," said Andrew Saunders, deputy editor at Management Today.

"She's got a real business, some design talent and some business nous."

Last month, the mother of four opened her first flagship boutique in London's Mayfair and she was also made UN goodwill ambassador for an Aids charity.
