Vin Diesel recently weighed in on rumours of him playing Black Bolt in Marvel's upcoming film, Inhumans, by saying that he's on board provided the studio gets a "dope script and great director."

Diesel - who is already associated with a successful Marvel franchise, Guardians Of The Galaxy, where he voices Groot - has dropped several hints over the past year teasing his involvement with the Inhumans movie. When MTV asked the actor to speak about his rumoured new role for the Marvel film, Diesel replied:

"...It's not a matter of me wooing Marvel, it's a matter of Marvel wooing me. And I love them, but I'm just saying, show me a dope script and show me a great director, all of which I know that Kevin [Feige] is capable of, because he dazzled me when he suggested Groot. That was, like, profound to me. I thought [Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy] was genius. I'm not doing anything just for work. I'm doing things that I can feel passionate about, and that I feel like I can contribute to."

Black Bolt is the ruler of the Inhumans. His signature power is his voice. Speaking triggers a massive disturbance in the form of a highly destructive shockwave capable of levelling a city. Due to the extreme danger posed by this power, the character undergoes rigorous mental training to prevent himself from uttering a sound.

While promoting his upcoming film, The Last Witch Hunter at the 2015 New York Comic-Con in early October, the Fast and Furious star dropped a major hint about being cast as Marvel's Black Bolt.

"I can totally be something [else] with Marvel," Diesel told io9. "I think playing that role only makes Marvel that much more excited and me having my experience with Marvel, seeing how great they were, makes me more excited. We've heard a lot of talk about Marvel wanting to have me play a character that doesn't have my voice. So my voice is used for Groot and my presence is used for the other character."

Groot and Black Bolt would be the perfect combination for Diesel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As Groot, the audience hears his gruff voice say, in various tones, "I am Groot," but all they'll see is a giant CGI tree. As Black Bolt, they will get to see the actor play the part on screen but will not hear his voice.
