Vlad Chiriches
No deal in place for Chiriches to leave Spurs, says agent

Tottenham Hotspur defender Vlad Chiriches is not poised to join Fiorentina as part of a swap deal involving former Manchester City starlet Stefan Savic, his agent has insisted.

The Romanian star made his move to north London just last summer but amid a number of injury problems has failed to replicate the form that drew Spurs into paying Steaua Bucharest £8.5m for his services last summer.

Reports in the Italian media suggested that a player exchange between Spurs and La Viola had been proposed that would see 24-year-old Chiriches move to the Stadio Artemio Franchi with Savic, who left the Etihad Stadium after one disappointing season in 2012, moving in the other way.

But the Romanian's agent Pietro Chiodi has dismissed such claims, telling Sky Italia: "I deny that there is currently a deal with Fiorentina or any other clubs for my client."

A persistent back injury troubled Chiriches for much of his first season in the Premier League and recent reports suggested the club's lack of Champions League football next season had seen the defender revaluate his future at the club.

The club's fifth place finish last campaign has seen the futures of a number of key players come under scrutiny with Hugo Lloris in particular causing concern after admitting he will make a decision regarding his future after the World Cup.

However, the club did receive good news from Jan Vertonghen who recently revealed he is not looking to leave White Hart Lane while midfielder Christian Eriksen has also committed himself to the club, telling the Danish press: "I have absolutely no intention of leaving here."

Although Mauricio Pochettino is likely to make changes where he sees fit after being handed a five year contract, chairman Daniel Levy has stated the club are very unlikely to embark on a spending spree akin to last summer, where Spurs spent the excess of £100m on bringing seven players to the club.
