The Walking Dead Season 4 may have ended, but the makers are already at work on Season 5.

Season 4 ended on a cliffhanger with Rick, Michonne, Carl, Glenn, Maggie, Tara, Sasha, Bob, Abraham, Rosita and Eugene trapped at Terminus but do not expect the series to stay in that location for too long in Season 5, reports Zap2it.

According to showrunner Scott Gimple, who appeared alongside Andrew Lincoln on the Talking Dead season finale, the writers are currently exploring new locations for season 5.

"We're really excited about it. The writers are working very hard," he said on the talk show.

"We're looking at all the new places we're going. It's going to be an incredible season. It's going to be completely different from this year," he said.

Although no Season 5 plot details were revealed, Gimple did say it is safe to assume that there are still Carol, Tyreese and Beth out in the world and maybe not already trapped at Terminus.

He also teased that every half season of The Walking Dead reinvents itself and that Season 5a will be a "nuclear weapon."

Gimple also briefly addressed what fans could expect in Season 5 in terms of new characters, in a Twitter Q&A right before The Walking Dead Season 4 Finale, according to comicbook.com.

When asked what characters from the comics would be included in Season 5, Gimple replied, "I wouldn't spoil which ones specifically, but more are comin'!"

He also revealed that, "Negan will be in the show... But we won't say when..."

Negan was introduced in the comics in The Walking Dead #100. He is the leader of The Saviors and currently the primary antagonist in the comic series.

The Walking Dead Season 5 is expected to premiere in October 2015 on AMC.
